“When I began focusing on dog training things started to line up, as if I was on the right path and the universe was cheering me on, doors began to open.”
Who is Cam?
My name is Cam Finnan. I am a dog trainer, photographer, and conservationist. I was born in South Africa, raised in Northern California, and currently, I am living in South Carolina. In 2017 I returned to South Africa to visit family and volunteer with a conservation group. It was there that I learned about the use of K9s against poaching and the illegal wildlife trade.
Once I was back in the United States I decided to pursue the working dog world. When I began focusing on dog training things started to line up, as if I was on the right path and the universe was cheering me on, doors began to open. Soon I was setting out for the remote bush of South Africa where I would work, live and train with some of the most incredible people I will ever have the privilege of working with.
As it is, I always have my camera bouncing on my hip, I began taking photos as a kid with whatever I could. The vague memory of a silver point-and-shoot cannon comes to mind and eventually graduating to a Sony my grandad bought me for my 14th birthday. I am now rarely without my Nikon and completely self-taught. So with my work as a K9 trainer in South Africa, it was natural for me to document my every day in video and images. I am proud to now be able to present my experiences and the beauty of our planet to you and I hope you will find interest in supporting conservation and the K9 training through the purchase of my peices.
